Agriculture business instructor Dr. Jacob Vazquez has been honored with the Young Teacher of the Year Award by the California Agricultural Teachers' Association (CATA). This award recognizes exceptional young agriculture teachers who demonstrate outstanding leadership and engagement in civic, community, agriculture/agribusiness, and professional activities.
“It was an honor to be recognized by my fellow agricultural teaching colleagues,” said Dr. Vazquez. “I am very thankful for the support of Butte College.”
At Butte College, Dr. Vazquez serves as the program lead for the agriculture business program and advisor for the Agriculture Leadership Club. He teaches various agriculture classes, including agricultural economics, agricultural accounting, animal science, and more.
His dedication to students' success and passion for teaching earned him the Teacher of the Year Award from Butte College students in 2021. Dr. Vazquez is known for his willingness to go the extra mile, offering one-on-one support to ensure his students grasp the material and achieve their educational and career goals.
Dr. Vazquez is actively involved in agricultural education beyond the college campus. He serves on the advisory committee for the National Future Farmers of America Farm Business Management Career Development Event. Additionally, he is on the executive committee and governing board for CATA.
Dr. Vazquez, a graduate of Butte College, sees himself in many of the students he teaches. He holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture business and a master's degree in agricultural science from California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). Recently, he earned his EdD in agricultural education from Texas Tech.
